You start in a child's bedroom with two doors on the left and right, a closet behind you, and a bed you can check by turning around. Your goal is to survive from midnight to 6 AM by preventing any of the nightmare animatronics from reaching you. Use your flashlight to check the closet and bed, and listen carefully at the doors for the sound of breathing. If you hear breathing at a door, close it immediately by holding right-click until the threat leaves. If you check the closet or bed with your light and spot an animatronic, hold the light on them for a few seconds to force them back. Constantly rotate between all four positions because leaving one unprotected for too long invites attack. If you hear movement without breathing, keep the door open and wait; closing it unnecessarily may trigger a jumpscare later.
