About Chameleon Hideout

Chameleon Hideout flips stealth gameplay on its head: instead of hiding behind objects, you become the background. You control a color-shifting chameleon inside detailed indoor rooms while a robotic hunter patrols and scans for visual discrepancies. Your goal is to survive each round by perfectly matching your skin tone to nearby surfaces.

The key tool is the Color Studio, which you can open at any time. Inside, you’ll find an eyedropper to sample exact colors from walls, wooden furniture, or tiled floors. A fill tool covers large areas quickly, while a precision brush lets you fine-tune smaller patches. Strategy matters: matching a flat wall may require a different tone than standing on a patterned carpet.

Your camouflage level is shown in real time on a dedicated meter. The higher the match percentage, the less likely the robot will notice you when its scanner sweeps over your position. But staying still is only half the battle — you also need to watch patrol routes and plan your next move.

If you move too suddenly or your silhouette contrasts too much, the robot fires paint shots at your location. Repositioning safely means reading the robot’s rhythm, holding perfectly still during a sweep, and repainting yourself the instant you reach a new surface. Each round uses a countdown timer, so every second matters.

Chameleon Hideout runs directly in your browser on desktop and mobile. No downloads or accounts are required, making it a quick but tense stealth challenge that rewards patience and precise color matching.

How to Play Chameleon Hideout

Start each round by observing the room and the robot's patrol route. When the robot is far away or scanning another area, open the Color Studio and sample a nearby surface. Use the fill tool for large areas and the brush for edges. Watch the camouflage meter to see how well you blend in. Hold still when the scanner beam passes over you. If you need to move, wait for the robot to face away, then quickly reach a new position and repaint yourself to match that surface. Survive until the timer reaches zero.

Tips for Chameleon Hideout

Sample multiple points on a surface before committing to a color — lighting can shift appearance from different angles. Stand perfectly still when the robot's scanner is aimed at you; movement is often what betrays you. Use the fill tool for quick large-area matches but switch to the brush for edges near doors or furniture. Learn the robot's patrol pattern each round and time your movement just after it passes. If you're spotted, don't panic—run to a complex surface with many colors and repaint rapidly while the robot is turning. Keep an eye on the timer and avoid unnecessary movement in the final seconds.
